Besides, the participants were mainly youth who have been booked under NDPS case once or those who have been drug addicts. SSP Baramulla Amod Ashok Nagpure while addressing the gathering emphasized on the role of civil society in curbing the demand of drugs.
Moreover, Baramulla Police said that it has registered more than 200 cases under NDPS Act and accordingly arrested more than 300 drug peddlers while as 54 hard-core drug peddlers have been booked under PIT NDPS Act. Police said that it has also freezed illegal drug property worth Rs 2 crore in Baramulla. However, SSP Nagpure reiterated that mere police action is not sufficient to wipe off the drug menace.
