Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it has arrested two gamblers in Ganderbal and seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on specific inputs about gambling activities at Rangil in the jurisdiction of Police Post Nagbal, a Police team led by incharge Police Post Nagbal under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Ganderbal Gh Hassan raided the specific spot and arrested the two gamblers identified as Nazir Ahmad Mir S/o Gh Ahmad Mir R/o Vachaernag Nowshera Srinagar and Tanveer Ahmad Beigh S/o Firdous Ahmad Beigh R/o Ahmad Nagar Srinagar on spot, adding therein that stake money of Rs. 2,990/- and Playing Cards were also seized from the possession of the said accused who were later arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating that police has accordingly registered a case vide FIR No. 241/2023 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Ganderbal and initiated further investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
