Srinagar: Police on Friday said that it has booked three most wanted drug smugglers under PIT-NDPS Act in Baramulla after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority taking the toll to 54 during the current year in district Baramulla.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the three accused drug smugglers namely Rouf Ahmad Wani S/o Nazir Ahmad R/o Roshanabad Pinjoora Kunzer, Bashir Ahmad Malla S/o Abdul Razzaq R/o Dhobiwan Kunzer and Farooq Ahmad Mir S/o Gh Mohiuddin Mir R/o Zaspora Tangmarg have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority, adding therein that the booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged at Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu.
Police in it’s further statement said that many a cases were registered against these drug smugglers for being found involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Pinjoora, Kunzer, Dhobiwan, Zaspora, Tangmarg and other areas of District Baramulla, adding therein that despite their involvement in many FIRs, the said accused did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth.
Police its above statement also said that it has booked 54 drug smugglers under PIT-NDPS Act/ PSA in the district this year after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authorities and subsequently lodged them in different jails of J&K.
In the concluding para of it’s above referred statement police said that people of the area has appreciated its role for their action against drug smugglers/peddlers. Police on this occasion reassured people about its consistent actions against the drug peddlers and assured that it is making all efforts to keep our society free from drug abuse.
