2-days MDP organised at GMC Handwara

Kupwara: The two day State Level Management Development Programme (MDP) for Doctors, Nurses and other Health Care Professionals began on Wednesday at the Teaching Hall of Govt. Medical College Handwara.
The impressive event was organised by the Academy of Hospital Administration (AHA) India, in collaboration with Govt. Medical College & Associated Hospital Handwara.
Addressing the inaugural function, the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan highlighted the importance of government initiatives like ABHA, Health Card, which is an innovative healthcare solution that provides individuals and families access to quality healthcare services at an affordable price, the QR code based OPD registration service- SCan and Share, Health insurance, Golden Card, NQAS (National Quality Assurance Standards) and LaQshya (Labour Room Quality Improvement initiative) etc.
The DDC urged all the participants and organizers to cover all important issues and topics in a bigger manner so that benefits of MDP trickle down and reach to the targeted groups.
She said that demand for health care facilities in Kupwara district is very high, be it GMC Handwara, District Hospital, CHCs, BHCs, NTPHCs or sub centres.
The DDC said that the Government is making every effort to improve the health facilities and the District Administration Kupwara will leave no stone unturned to improve the health care facilities in Kupwara district.
Secretary to the Govt. Health & Medical Department, Bhupinder Kumar, through virtual mode from Jammu addressed the MPD and said that a two days workshop at GMC Handwara will improve the professional skills, etiquettes and ethics of doctors and Health professionals.
While congratulating the AHA and GMC for organising such an impressive programme, Kumar said that MPD will help in explaining the new modalities in Health Service.
National President, Academy of Hospital Administration AHA, India and Director Coordination New Medical Colleges J&K Dr. Yashpal Sharma while highlighting the importance of organising, Management Development Programme (MPD) said that Management of Hospitals is becoming complex these days due to large funds flow under different schemes. As doctors are not taught management skills and there are no trained hospital administrators. Hence there is a need to enhance the management skills of doctors and other medical professionals of hospitals.
Principal GMC Baramulla, Prof. Dr. Ruby Reshi also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier Principal Govt. Medical College Handwara, Prof. Dr. Iffat Hassan while presenting the welcome address said that class work for the first batch of 100 students of GMC Handwara will start from 1st September 2023.
Momentos and trophies were distributed on the occasion among the main achievers in Health.
More than 160 participants including dignitaries, delegates, moderators, resource persons, doctors, Nurses and other Health care Professionals from different Medical colleges and Hospitals of Kashmir division joined the Management Development Programme (MPD) at Handwara.
