Jammu: Apni Party staged a peaceful protest on Tuesday at Nai Basti in Satwari, Jammu against the toll tax collection at Sarore in Toll Plaza in Samba.
According to statement issued from the party headquarters here the protest was organized by Sheekha Bardwaj. The protesters gathered at Nai Basti to express their anguish against the “anti-people” policy and agenda adopted by the authorities that has put the people to unnecessary harassment.
“It was the injustice that forced the youth to come on the road, and the Apni Party has also joined them. The Apni Party time and again raised the issue of illegal collection of toll tax at Saroore Toll Plaza despite knowing that the Jammu Pathankot is disrupted at various locations due to widening work, and damage to the bridges in Kathua district,” reads the statement.
The Apni Party leaders shouted slogans against the NHAI and demanded that the toll collection should be stopped till the construction work on the highway is completed.
The leaders also expressed serious concern over the installation of smart meters in Jammu and its peripheral areas that has provoked strong reaction from the people following excessive electricity usage bills.
The Apni Party leaders said that the people are facing unnecessary harassment at the toll plaza in Sarore. Later, the protesters dispersed peacefully.
