Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested eleven persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in north Kashmir’s district Baramulla and also seized eleven vehicles from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Mohd Nawaz assisted by SHO Police Station Pattan, InCharge Police Post Kungamdara, InCharge Police Post Mirgund and InCharge Police Post Wussan, seized nine vehicles (4 tractors & 5 tippers) and arrested nine drivers for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Kalsari Pattan, Khore Sherabad Pattan, Jheel Singhpora Pattan and Goshbugh Pattan in separate incidents. Police in it’s statement further said that the said accused have been identified as Adil Ahmad Bhat S/o Mohd Ramzan & Saqib Ahmad Mir S/o Fayaz Ahmad, both residents of Kalsari Pattan, Arif Ahmad Shah S/o Ab Rashid Shah R/o Khore Sherabad, Hashim Ali Reshi S/o Mohd Maqbool R/o Hanjiwera Payeen, Showkat Ahmad Khan S/o Asgar Khan R/o Matipora & Imran Husain Malla S/o Gh Mohammad R/o Gund Khawaja Qasim, Danish Ahmad Malla S/o Nazir Ahmad R/o Shilvat Bandipora, Shabir Ahmad Mir S/o Gh Hassan R/o Sheikh Zoo Ganderbal & Manzoor Ahmad Ganie S/o Gh Rasool R/o Batwen Ganderbal.
Stating that in a similar action a police party under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg Imtiaz Ahmed assisted by SHO Police Station Tangmarg, seized two tractors and arrested two drivers identified as Manzoor Ahmad Reshi S/o Gh Ahmad R/o Shrai & Rouf Ahmad Kumar S/o Ab Raheem R/o Hajibal Tangmarg for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Druroo Tangmarg,Police in it’s statement further said that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations and further investigations was also launched into the case.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police warned that people found indulging in illegal extraction activities shall be dealt with as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
