Kulgam: To celebrate National Senior Citizen Day, the Social Welfare Department (SWD) Kulgam on Monday organized a day-long Awareness Camp, aiming to acknowledge the contributions of senior citizens in various aspects of social life and to educate them about different government programs and schemes designed for their well-being.
The event was attended by officials from the Social Welfare Department, as well as resource persons from the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kulgam, District Hospital Kulgam, Lead Bank Kulgam, and various non-governmental organizations.
During the program, representatives from the Social Welfare Department and other resource persons provided information about various government programs and schemes specifically designed for the benefit of senior citizens.
Additionally, a complimentary geriatric health camp was held in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer Kulgam.
This health camp assessed nearly 200 senior citizens for various health indicators, with a focus on issues commonly experienced by this demographic.
The event concluded with an interactive session, combined with a grievance redressal component, to address the specific concerns of the participants.
