Jammu : Police on Monday said that it has started a drive against the sale of banned synthetic threads (manja) and in this connection various nakas were laid at different locations by Jammu Police.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu, Police said that an input was received at Police Post Pounichak about one person carrying banned synthetic threads for sale in the area under the jurisdiction of Police Post Pounichak, adding therein that acting on the specific inputs, police teams of Police Post Pounichak led by SDPO Domana Vishal Shoor and assisted by SHO Police Station Domana Inspr Kunal Singh Jamwal and I/C Police Post Pounichak PSI Nitish Khajuria laid a special naka where they rounded up a suspected person while coming on a vehicle bearing Registration No. JK02CV/1059 from Talab tillo towards Huzuri bagh and during search, 30 Chinese Manja (Gattu) were recovered from his possession.
Stating that the police later accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections at Police Station Domana and arrested the accused in the commission of crime, Police in it’s statement said that the arrest was made in violation of DM order regarding ban on sale of plastic/synthetic threads (manja) and the arrested person was later identified as Avinash Goria S/o Sanjay Kumar R/o Colonel colony.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police appealed people to inform at the nearest Police station/ Police Post regarding sale of synthetic threads (manja) and urged people not to buy or sale such synthetic threads (manja).
