Khag (Budgam): Saying that People of Jammu and Kashmir were yearning for peace with dignity ,Chairman Jammu & Kashmir People’s Democratic Front (J&K PDF) and former Minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen here on Saturday called for satiating emotions and aspirations with regard to their special identity , constitutional guarantees and democratic rights. He said Center should honour commitment of Prime Minister Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee that ” minus azadi, sky was the limit to meet socio-political aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir” .
Addressing a meeting of PDF workers and office bearers of Khag block in central district Budgam on Saturday , Hakeem said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir were seeking fulfillment of their free will about rights on land and employment to the rightful domiciles guaranteed under the constitution . Meeting was convened to take stock of the prevailing socio- political situation in Jammu and kashmir. Chairman District Develop Council ( DDC) Budgam , Nazir Ahmad Khan attended the meeting as a special guest .
Hakeem said َ People’s concern about protecting thier identity, honour and dignity should not be construed as a rebellion but a democratic right to live in a secular and harmonious society۔ He underscored the need to safeguard the internal sovereignty of Jammu and Kashmir as enshrined in the Art. 370 of the Constitution of India. He has reminded Prime Minister Narindera Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to fulfill their sublime promises, made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir in the Parliament of the country , about restoration of the statehood. He has also called for holding early Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, adding therein that usurping democratic rights of the people and denying them opportunity to elect their MLAs for their rightful representation was a gross violation of the Constitution. He said these measures were imperative to consolidate the dividends of peace in a positive direction .
Hakeem made a fervent appeal to Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to establish a Govt. Degree college at Khag, adding therein that it was a long pending demand of the people of this educationally backward rural block of Budgam district. He also demanded a Sub-District Hospital in Khag to provide adequate health care facilities to the people of this remote area.
PDF Chairman also urged the Government to execute work on ambitious Yusmarg-Doodhpathri-Tossamaidan- Gulmarg tourist circuit as early as possible to open up newer galaxies on the tourism horizon of Jammu and Kashmir. He said this ambitious tourist circuit would not only through open new vistas of livelihood for the local population but would also bring a turnaround in the tourism landscape of Jammu and Kashmir . He said various areas falling under the proposed tourist circuit were dotted with vast and varied tourism potential including adventure, trekking , mountaineering , skiing , winter and pilgrim tourism . “ The development of Yusmarg-Doodhpathri-Tossamaidan- Gulmarg tourist circuit was a dream project , imperative for the overall socio-economic transformation of total rural Budgam ,“ Hakeem maintained.
