Kulgam: The Computer Applications department of Govt Degree College (GDC) Kulgam on Friday organised an enlightening symposium titled ‘Passion to Profession’, here.
The central aim of this event was to create a conducive environment where students could confidently showcase their acquired talents and expertise. By doing so, the event aimed to bolster their self-confidence, enhance their enthusiasm, and motivate them to channel their energies productively.
Dr. Shabir Ahmad Padder, the Vice Principal of the college presided over the symposium. The presidential remarks of Dr. Shabir was a mix of admiration and encouragement. He praised the evident talent among the students while also urging them to continuously hone their abilities to be of greater service to the broader community.
The proceedings were initiated by Prof. Sajad Ahmad Shah, the head of the Computer Applications department. He took this opportunity to stress the significance of regular academic engagement. He advocated the idea that beyond routine class attendance, being active participants in such extracurricular endeavours can work wonders in broadening students’ horizons and refining their skills.
In terms of content, the symposium was an array of diverse topics. Students delved into areas ranging from the contemporary realm of Digital Marketing, the artistry behind Videography, the creative pursuits of Art and Craft, the technicalities of Networking and Web Development, the alarming realities of Cyber Crimes, and even touched upon themes of Patriotism.
Prof. Shamim Ahmad Hakim, Prof. Abdul Haleem Wani, and Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Ittoo shared their responsibilities as Jury members.
The culmination of the symposium witnessed announcing the distinguished participants. With Muzamil Waris leading the pack, followed by Suahil Ashraf and Jenifer Yaqoub, the atmosphere was charged with applause. A special accolade, the “Student of the Year,” was deservedly awarded to Suahil Ashraf, a testament to his consistent and outstanding contributions throughout the academic year. Certificates were distributed among all the speakers of the event.
