Srinagar: Police on Friday said that it has arrested 13 persons for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals and also seized 13 vehicles in Baramulla.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla Altaf Ahmed assisted by SHO PS Baramulla seized 11 tippers and arrested 11 drivers at Khanpora Baramulla for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, adding therein that the accused have been identified as Shabir Ahmad Dar S/o Gh Nabi Dar R/o Jalsheri, Bashir Ahmad Dar S/o Abdul Gani Dar R/o Jalsheri, Zahoor Ahmad Dar S/o Gh Mohammad Dar R/o Rohama, Mohammad Rafiq Mir S/o Ab Razak Mir R/o Drangbal, Gh Nabi Lone S/o Mohd Sultan Lone R/o Jalsheri, Mohammad Raman Dar S/o Asadullah Dar R/o Sheeri, Showket Ahmad Sofi S/o Gh Rasool Sofi R/o Khanpora, Irshad Ahmad Lone S/o Mohd Arif Lone R/o Audoora sheeri, Mohd Iqbal Malik S/o Gh Mohd Malik R/o Drangbal, Shabir Ahmad Malik S/o Gh Rasool Malik R/o Drangbal, Mohd Yaseen Malik S/o Mohd Afzal Malik R/o Drangbal.
Police in its statement further said that in a similar action a police team under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg Imtiaz Ahmed assisted by SHO Police Station Kunzer seized two tippers and arrested two drivers namely Gh Qadir Khan S/o Ab Rehman R/o Mangloora & Mohd Arif Shah S/o Nazir Ahmad R/o Takiya Batpora at Ferozpora Nallah Kunzer for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals
Stating that police later accordingly registered cases under relevant sections of law at respective Police Stations and initiated further investigation into the cases, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in illegal extraction activities shall be dealt with as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
