Handwara: In a Concerted effort to Eradicate cannabis from the Langate area, Naib Tehsildar Langate, Mohammad Maqbool, has urged people to eliminate wild cannabis growing in their respective fields.
Failure to comply will result in legal action being taken against those who do not cooperate. The Niab Tehsildar made these statements while participating in a joint operation to destroy wild cannabis in the Guloora area of Handwara.
He emphasized the importance of prompt action, warning that legal measures would be initiated against individuals who do not take the necessary steps.
The Handwara police, in collaboration with other relevant departments, have launched a large-scale operation to eradicate wild cannabis within the Police District Handwara.
They are actively educating residents about the importance of eliminating this drug from their surroundings.
On Thursday, a police team from the Police Post Langate, accompanied by the concerned Magistrate, BDC Chairman Langate, Municipal Committee Langate, and local residents, conducted a special drive to eradicate wild bhang in Guloora.
This operation resulted in the destruction of a significant quantity of wild bhang that had spread across extensive areas of land.
“The general public in these areas has widely praised the actions taken by the police and has expressed their full cooperation in future endeavors to eliminate the drug menace from society. Community members are encouraged to provide any information they might have regarding the cultivation of contraband substances in their neighborhoods.
Those individuals found engaging in drug peddling and contraband cultivation will be subject to legal consequences,” the police stated.
Meanwhile, people have commended the timely actions of SP Handwara, Sheema Nabi, noting that such measures aid in eradicating the questionable activities in which the youth are involved.
They mentioned that since her appointment as SP Handwara, there has been a significant crackdown on drug peddlers in the sub-division.
