KVK-Ang holds Mega Awareness/ Mobilisation Prog for promotion of FPOs under CBBO SKUAST-K

Anantnag : The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Anantnag on Thursday organised amega awareness cum mobilisation programme at village Shangus, here.
The programme was organised under CBBO, Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-Kashmir and National Cooperative Development Cooperation (NCDC), New Delhi, GOI as it is implementing agency for the promotion of FPO, ‘Kashmir Valley Walnut Producer Cooperative Ltd.’, Shangus Anantnag.
Prof. Dil Mohammed Makhdoomi, Director Extension SKUAST-Kashmir was the chief guest on the occasion. He deliberated upon the need to promote FPOs for better marketing returns and emphasized upon mobilising more and more farmers/growers for formation of FPO.
He also spoke about the initiatives taken by GOI and J&K for the formation of 10000 FPOs in the country.
Talib Hussain Chaudhary, Chairman BDC, Shangus who was the guest of honour in his address appreciated the organisers for conducting such important programmes for the resource poor farmers and promised to help for such initiatives like for promotion of FPOs at panchayat level.
Earlier, the program began with a welcome address by Dr. Ishtiyaq A Khan, Head, KVK-Anantnag who also assured all the technological backstopping to FPOs on a regular basis for skill enhancement.
The programme was attended by Nodal Officer CBBO SKUAST-Kashmir Dr. Mohammad Iqbal Bhat, Scientists from Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-Kashmir, representatives from NCDC and officers from different line departments (Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Science, Cooperatives, NRLM) besides more than 150 farmers/FPO members.
