Srinagar: Police on Thursday said that it has arrested four persons for being found involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals and also seized five vehicles from their possession in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party led by SHO Police Station Tangmarg under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg Imtiaz Ahmed seized three vehicles (2 tractors, 1 Tipper) and arrested two divers identified as Faisal Ahmad Lone S/o Ab Aziz R/o Khonchipora & Tanveer Ahmad Bhat S/o Ab Majeed R/o Wailoo Pattan at Shrai Kulhama Tangmarg for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
Police in its statement further said that in a similar action a police team led by SHO Police Station Pattan under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Mohd Nawaz seized two tractors and arrested two drivers at Babagund Pattan for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals and thet were identified as Shabir Ahmad Wani S/o Ab Aziz R/o Hanjiwera & Farooq Ahmad Ganie S/o Gh Mohiuddin R/o Babagund Pattan.
Stating that the police has later accordingly registered cases under relevant sections of law at respective Police Stations and initiated further investigation into the cases, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in illegal extraction activities shall be dealt with as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
