Impersonator posing as different law enforcement officials held at Kunzer Bla: Police

Srinagar: Police on Monday said that in a significant development, a fraudulent individual who had been impersonating as law enforcement officials and scamming innocent citizens identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Wani S/o Ghulam Mohammad Wani R/o R/o Barzulla Dhobivan Tehsil Karhama has been arrested by Police in Baramulla and was accordingly taken into custody by Police following a written complaint.
Police in its above referred statement said that the investigation has proved that the accused had been operating under false pretenses, presenting himself as both a Sub-Inspector and a DySP, in order to deceive unsuspecting individuals through this deceitful means and accordingly, adding therein that the accused managed to fraudulently extract ₹90,000 rupees from the complainant.
Police in it’s statement further said that during investigation, Police Station Kunzer seized Rs. 40,000 rupees of the ill-gotten funds, which were earned through various fraudulent activities, adding therein that the case has been registered under FIR No. 83/2023 under section 419, 420 IPC at Police Station Kunzer and further investigation is in progress.
Police in it’s furthermore said that this successful operation showcases the dedication and commitment of law enforcement agencies to bring wrongdoers to justice and protect the interests of the public, adding therein that collaboration between complainants and law enforcement has played a pivotal role in ensuring the swift resolution of this case.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police urged everyone to remain cautious when dealing with unknown individuals as this action sends a strong message that criminal activities will not go unchecked, and individuals attempting to exploit the trust of innocent people will face legal consequences.
