DC B’gam inaugurates NCD Screening and Awareness Camp Under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav

Budgam: Under the aegis of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav District Development Commissioner (DDC) Budgam, Akshay Labroo on Saturday inaugurated an awareness cum non-communicable disease (NCD) screening camp at District Police Lines Budgam.
The camp was organized by Health department Budgam in collaboration with District and police administration Budgam.
Highlighting the pivotal importance of NCD screening, it was revealed that a staggering population is afflicted by non-communicable diseases. These chronic ailments, often referred to as lifestyle diseases, impose significant health challenges.
The event saw the screening of over 200 cadres for NCDs, leading to the identification of 44 cases of hypertension and 10 cases of diabetes.
Furthermore, 8 new cases of hypertension and 3 new cases of diabetes were diagnosed.
Participants received necessary medications as part of the event. The attendees were also educated about non-communicable diseases by DPC NCD Budgam, Dr. Syed Sahila, emphasizing the importance of lifestyle modifications for preventive care.
Speaking on the occasion, the District Development Commissioner Budgam (DDC) underscored the significance of adopting healthier lifestyles and encouraged individuals to commit to addressing at least one risk factor.
He said, a healthy body has a healthy mind, once in every three months one should go for overall body check ups, he added .
He said exercise, eating nutritious food, avoiding bad habits of eating will help in overcome the ailments.
The DC said health and medical department has its health and wellness centre’s across Budgam and people should take benefit of such services to maintain a safe lifestyle.
Commending the support of Deputy Superintendent Owais Loun, CMO Budgam expressed appreciation and motivation for the cadres to partake in yearly screenings at healthcare centers.
Supervised by Dr. Syed Khalid, Epidemiologist NCD Budgam, along with the teams from NCD clinics and the BMO Budgam, the NCD screening proved to be a successful endeavor in raising awareness and providing essential health services to the community.
Besides , CMO Budgam M.Ayoub khan , Dy.Sp owais loun, , DPC NCD Dr. Sahila and other officers and officials were present on the occasion.
