6 drug peddlers arrested, contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested six drug peddlers/ smugglers in Baramulla and Budgam districts and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Baramulla, a police party led by SHO Police Station Baramulla under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla Altaf Ahmad Khan at a checkpoint established at Khanpora Baramulla intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully by an alert police party which identified him as Ab Hameed Sheikh S/o Ab Khaliq Sheikh R/o Boniyar and also recovered 60 grams of Charas like contraband substance concealed in a bag w from his possession.
Police in it’s statement furthersaid that in a similar action a police party led by SHO Police Station Baramulla under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla Altaf Ahmad Khan at a checkpoint established at Kralhar new Railway Station Crossing Baramulla intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully by the alert police party and during search, 30 grams of brown sugar-like contraband substance concealed in a bag was recovered from his possession , adding therein that the said drug peddler was identified as Safan Shafi Zargar S/o Mohammad Shafi Zargar R/o Kanispora Baramulla.
Stating that in Budgam also during a cordon and search operation (CASO) at village Danseera, a police party from Police Station Beerwah apprehended three persons identified as Junaid Ahmed Dar S/o Gh Mohi Din Dar R/o Danseera Beerwah, Adil Ahmed Ganaie S/o Lt. Gh Ahmad Ganaie and Nasir Ali Dar S/o Ali Mohd Dar both R/o Sonapah Beerwah Budgam, Police in it’s statement furthermore said that upon the personal search of the said accused 50 sticks of charas like substance alongwith three mobile phones were recovered from their possession.
Police in it’s statement also said that on the specific input received by Police Station Beerwah one Abdul Ahad Wani S/o Mohammad Subhan Wani R/o Pethkote was found dealing with drugs as he had concealed Poppy straw in his cowshed and was about to relocate the same contraband for further distribution among youth of the area etc. Stating a police party of Police Station Beerwah raided the said spot , Police in it’s statement said during searches six Kgs of Poppy straw was recovered from the possession of the said accused who was also arrested on the spot.
Police in it’s statement furthermore said that the all the arrested were later shifted to police station where they remain in custody and the cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations besides which further investigation is underway.
Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
