Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it has booked three most wanted drug smugglers under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district..
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that three drug smugglers identified as Khurshid Ahmad Bakshi S/o Mohd Rafiq Bakshi R/o Watalpora Tangmarg, Fayaz Ahmad Wani S/o Abdul Jabbar Wani R/o Dangerpora Baramulla and Bashir Ahmad Ganai S/o Lt. Wali Mohd Ganai R/o Trikanjan Boniyar have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority, adding therein that the booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jail Jammu.
Police in it’s statement further said that many a cases are registered against the said drug smugglers and they were involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Watalpora Tangmarg, Dangerpora, Heewan, Sheeri, Trikanjan Boniyar & other areas of District Baramulla . Stating that despite their involvement in many FIRs, the said drug peddlers did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police reassured people that its drive against criminals shall continue and also assured them that it has been making all possible efforts to eradicate social evils from the society.
