DGP holds top security review meet at Kupwara, Inaugurates Police establishments

Srinagar: The Director General J&K Police Dilbag Singh on Friday visited frontier district of Kupwara in North Kashmir where he chaired joint security review meeting, presided over a Darbar of Jawans and officers and also inaugurated the newly constructed Police establishments dedicated on the name of Police martyrs. Besides, the DGP along with other officers also planted saplings as a part of Meri Maati-Mera Desh celebrations under the programme Azadi ka Amrit Mahaotsav.
The DGP while chairing the officers meeting complimented Police, Army and other security agencies for their commitment in making Jammu and Kashmir militancy free destination. He stressed for continuous efforts on strengthening synergy among all forces to thwart any “nefarious design of anti- national elements”. He also said that the synergy among the forces has yielded good dividends in the maintenance of peace and order.
The DGP emphasized upon keeping vigil on anti-national and anti-social activities by increasing area domination and Naka check points and directed the officers to be more vigilant and keep constant pressure on the anti national elements and their supporters. Stating that Pakistan and its agencies will continue to hatch conspiracies to foment trouble in J&K, DGP stressed upon officers to update databases of anti national elements and OGWs who provide any sort of support for anti national activities and to help sustain the militant eco-system.
Reiterating that without the cooperation and support of people especially youth of J&K maintaining peace & order was a tough challenge, the DGP emphasized upon the officers that while dealing with any anti-militancy activities and law and order scenario, civilian convenience and security should always be kept in mind. The DIG NKR, SSP Kupwara and Handwara and other officers present on the occasion briefed the DGP on the preparation being made for the forthcoming Independence Day and also of security measures taken for the smooth conduct of the functions. Meeting besides the visiting officers was attended by GOC 28 Inft. Div. Major General Girish Kalia, DIG NKR Vivek Gupta, Brig. 28 Div V. Parida, SSP Kupwara, Yougal Kumar Manhas, CO 140 Bn BSF I H Khan, CO Suraj Chambial, CO 47 RR Amit Kumar Singh, SSP Handwara Ms. Sheema Qasba, CO CRPF 162 Bn Vinod Kumar, CO IRP 4th Bn Showkat Dar and other gazatted officers of Police, Army & CAPFs.
Addressing the Darbar, the DGP expressed his pleasure to visit the frontier district once again and dedicating the newly constructed buildings to the martyrs of JKP under the programme of national campaign “Meri Matti Mera Desh, Mitti Ko Naman Veeron Ko Vandan”. Lauding the good work of Kupwara Police alongwith Army & CAPFs, the DGP said that you all have kept Kupwara district very safe. Remembering the old days of Kupwara, he said that it was once used as the open route to visit Pakistan adding that the time has changed and Kupwara is the safest place as of now. Referring to the National Campaign “Meri Matti Mera Desh”, DGP said that all Police personnel know how to protect the country, Policemen never shy from sacrifice to protect the motherland, he added. He said Jammu and Kashmir Police across the J&K are organizing different activities to promote the national campaign as are being done across the country.
Referring to narco trade the DGP said that Police along with other security forces have faced many challenges of militancy and was successful in bringing normalcy in the J&K. He said that Pakistan is hatching new conspiracies to ruin the lives of people and youth of J&K by supplying drugs. He said that together with strong hands we have to fight the new conspiracy of Pakistan and uproot the evil from our soil as we did fighting militancy. Stating that restoring peace in the J&K was a tough task, he said that maintaining peace is tougher task adding that the need of the hour is to keep a vigilant watch on the anti national elements.
The DGP expressed gratitude to the Hon’ble Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his praises for Jammu and Kashmir Police works and added that it was a moment of pride.
On the occasion the DGP released a book by District Police Kupwara, “Guardians of Honour, A Tribute to Kupwara Police Martyrs”. Earlier, the DGP inaugurated the newly constructed police establishments that are dedicated and named after slain cops including Ct Ghulam Hassan Gojer PC Post Kandi, HC Sheeraz Khan PC Post Kralpora, HC Ghulam Mohd Khan Canteen cum Waiting Hall DPO Kupwara and SI Sagheer Pathan Conference cum Recreation Block DPL Kupwara
Speaking to the media, the DGP said that various initiatives to improve the infrastructure facilities for officers and jawans of Kupwara Police were taken. He appreciated the efforts of DIG NKR and SSP Kupwara for adding up new infrastructure for the personnel. Referring to the improving Border tourism, the DGP said that Pakistani conspiracies have affected many areas earlier which were not getting the appropriate attention of the tourists, I am happy to say that now many beautiful places around the border areas are receiving a huge number of tourists, the DGP added. He said efforts of Police, Army, BSF & CRPF are providing a safe atmosphere to facilitate the tourists. He said that it feels good when people are enjoying social as well as religious functions in J&K. He appreciated the hard work of all forces and administration for the present scenario of the J&K. Referring to the Civic Action Programs for youth, he said that J&K Police under its mission to provide opportunities and platforms to build careers of youth have been organizing different activities and will continue to do so in future also with all support provided by the Police Headquarters.
