DC B’gam calls for intensified screening for TB eradication

Budgam : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Akshay Labroo on Thursday chaired the District TB Forum cum Review meeting of the District TB Control Society on National Tuberculosis Eradication Programme (NTEP) at Conference Hall, here.
At the outset, the DC lauded the role of health staff, Tuberculosis department and others concerned for playing a pivotal role in achieving substantial reduction in TB cases and for working towards getting TB free status to the district in the country.
He said in order to eradicate the disease, intensified screening of patients be conducted across the district.
The DC instructed concerned to conduct IEC programmes and ensure sensitization and awareness of PRIs, VLWs, Panchayat Secretaries, Anganwadi and Asha workers besides other field functionaries regarding the TB eradication for better results.
The DC as Chairman of District TB Control Society said the need is to work with more dedication to accelerated reduction in the TB cases across the district.
He said that special screening camps be held across all hotshots, mapping of these areas, screening at these hot spots to ensure containment of disease.
The DC assured that District Administration shall provide every support to the concerned including arrangements of necessary machinery, awareness generation and creation of Nikshay mitras for support of TB patients.
On the occasion, State TB Officer, Dr. Adhfar deliberated upon district level status of TB cases, activities of the TB forum and activities undertaken under NTEP in the district.
She said, besides intensive screening, various activities shall be undertaken to raise public awareness about the devastating health, social and economic consequences of tuberculosis (TB) and to step up efforts to end the chronic disease.
The meeting among others was attended by State TB Officer, Kashmir, Dr Adfhar Yasien Qadri; CMO Budgam, Dr Ayoub Fateh; MS AYMH District Hospital Budgam, BMOs, members from Civil Society, members of Forum, TB champions, District TB office staff and others.
