Samba: The NSS and IQAC of Government Degree College Ramgarh initiated week long activities on the theme ‘Meri Matti Mera Desh’ to commemorate Independence Day under the aegis of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
A documentary on Kargil Hero Capt. Vikram Batra was screened on the first day of the week-long activities. The event was organized under the guidance and supervision of Prof (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, Principal of the College.
On the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra paid homage to the “Heroes” who have made supreme sacrifice for the country by lying down their lives and to the freedom fighters guarding the borders of the country day & night. She opined that Patriotism means serving your country and working for its progress in other ways too. Even a small contribution like keeping your environment clean, throwing garbage in the dustbins, following the traffic rules, paying respect to public properties, encouraging communal harmony are also the simple ways of showing your patriotism. Patriotism is important for the peace and harmony of the country. It is important to have a spirit of brotherhood in order to support each other.
At the outset, the students were briefed about the theme ‘Meri Matti Mera Desh’ to commemorate Independence Day. Prof. Risha Kumari said that the nationwide ‘Meri Matti Mera Desh’ Campaign is launched to pay tribute to the brave hearts who laid down their lives for the country. In continuation to this, Dr. Sandeep Kumar informed the students about the campaign that this campaign will continue till the 30th of this month. It will include programmes at national, state, village and block levels as well as local urban bodies.
IQAC Coordinator, Dr. Aditi Khajuria highlighted the relevance of the entire week long programme that will instil a sense of National Pride and Inspire young learners to participate in the progress of the country.
A large number of students showed the feeling of patriotism by enthusiastically participating in the event. All the teaching as well as non-teaching staff attended the programme.
