Poonch: District Poonch witnessed a grand celebration as the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ initiative was launched on Wednesday to venerate India’s iconic history and rich heritage.
The event, organized by the Department of School Education Poonch, brought together 18 schools who participated in a magnificent display of tableaux and performances that captivated the audience.
The launch event, held at the DC Office Poonch, was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner, Yasin M. Choudhary.
The occasion marked the beginning of a memorable journey through the major streets of Poonch, as students showcased 20 beautifully decorated tableaux symbolizing the local brave hearts, national martyrs, freedom fighters, and the essence of Poonch’s soil.
The tableaux highlighted historical events and portrayed the colorful culture and traditions of India. Diverse folk dances, traditional attire, and distinctive art forms from different regions were showcased, promoting the spirit of unity in diversity.
The participants, adorned in vibrant costumes, represented the rich cultural heritage of India, mesmerizing onlookers with their stunning visuals and patriotic fervor.
The event also paid a heartfelt tribute to the police martyrs who have made supreme sacrifices in the line of duty to ensure the safety and security of the citizens. Their valor and dedication were honored and remembered by the participants and spectators alike, serving as a reminder of their selfless service.
Furthermore, the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ event shed light on various social initiatives undertaken by the Department of School Education Poonch. These initiatives included vocational education, foundational literacy and numeracy, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Fit India campaign, Digital India, Atal Tinkering Lab, and Nasha Mukti Bharat. The event aimed to create awareness and promote these noble endeavors among the community.
The success of this rally would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts of Chief Education Officer Poonch, Bishamber Dass, and the contributions of DEPO N M Suri, Dy CEO Mendhar, Principals and Headmasters of nominated HSS and High schools, and DRG Member, Darshan Kumar. Their support and coordination ensured that the event was executed seamlessly, bringing joy and a sense of pride to the participants and spectators.
The ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ initiative in District Poonch has set a remarkable precedent by fostering a sense of unity, patriotism, and appreciation for the rich cultural heritage of India. It serves as a testament to the district’s commitment to celebrating its glorious history and inspiring the younger generation to carry forward the legacy of our great nation.
