Mousami adjudged best singer: GCW Udhampur hosts Patriotic song competition under AKAM

Udhampur : As a part of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, an intra-collegiate solo singing competition on the theme of patriotism was organized by Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Committee of Government College for Women GCW), Udhampur, in collaboration with Department of Music, here on Wednesday.
Principal of the College, Prof. Anjali Mahajan was the chief guest. She highlighted the significance of celebrating the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava and urged the students to celebrate it as a Jan Mahotsav to bring the contribution of every section of society to the fore.
She informed that the Government College for Women Udhampur is organizing fortnightly special events to mark the celebrations under ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and Meri Matti Mera Desh , besides paying tributes to the heroes of Indian freedom struggle.
As many as 10 students of the college participated in the competition and enthralled the audience with their soulful patriotic songs in the praise of the freedom fighter of India.
Mousami of Semester 3rd was adjudged best singer, while Sonia Verma of Sem 5th and Neeta Devi of Sem 5th bagged second and third positions, respectively. Besides Manvi Chanyal of Sem 5th and Luxmi Devi of Sem 5th were awarded consolation prizes.
Later, the chief guest also distributed certificates and mementos among the participants of the competition.
Earlier, Convenor AKAM, Dr. Sanjeet Kour gave a brief summary of the activities being carried out by the college , especially to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and Meri Matti Mera De
During the contest, Prof. Shamma Rani and Dr. Sanjay Kumar acted as judges. The proceedings of the event was conducted by Swati Gandotra of Semester 5th and Prof. Rajinder Singh Presented the formal vote of thanks
Among others, HOD Music, Dr. Seema Sharma, Dr. Kewal Kumar, Dr. Amit Kumar, Prof. Rajinder Singh, Prof. Mushtaq Ahmed, Prof. Pooja Bharti, Prof. Yash Kumar, senior faculty members, staff members and a large number of students also attended the programme.
