Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested seven persons for being involved in in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district and also seized seven vehicles from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg Imtiaz Ahmed assisted by SHO Police Station Kunzer, seized four vehicles (3 tippers & 1 tractor) and also arrested four drivers identified as Manzoor Ahmad Jath S/o Gh Hassan R/o Nund Reshi Colony Bemina, Bilal Ahmad Lone S/o Ab Rashid Lone R/o Goigam Kunzer, Sameer Ahmad Shah S/o Gh Rasool R/o Gonipora Kunzer & Mohd Altaf Shah S/o Ali Mohd R/o Takia Gonipora for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Chichiloora & Gokhama Kunzer.
Police in it’s above referred statement further said that in a similar action, a police party under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg Imtiaz Ahmed assisted by SHO PS Tangmarg, seized three vehicles (tractor) and arrested three drivers identified as Ab Rashid Reshi S/o Ab Rahim Reshi R/o Baderkote, Mohd Iqbal Mir S/o Gh Ahmad Mir R/o Kulhama & Adil AHmad Dar S/o Gh Ahmad Dar R/o Hardu Shoora Kunzer for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Ferozpora Tangmarg.
Stating that police registered cases under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and initiated further investigations into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in illegal extraction activities shall be dealt with as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
