Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said that it has attached a vehicle (Maruti Car) of drug smuggler worth 60k at Mirgund Pattan in District Baramulla.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party led by Incharge Police Post Mirgund under the overall supervision of SDPO Pattan Mohd Nawaz attached a vehicle (Private Maruti Car) bearing registration No. JK03B-1977 worth 60K (approx) belonging to drug smuggler namely Gh Mohammad Dar S/o Ab Rehman Dar R/o Mirgund Pattan after completing all legal formalities, adding therein that the said vehicle was linked to case FIR No. 132/2023 of Police Station Pattan which was raised by the accused illegally from Illicit Trafficking by the drug smuggler.
Police in its statement further said that earlier Baramulla Police attached properties worth 68.05 lacs of drug smugglers including two houses, two vehicles and cash of Rs. 41.72 lacs in Pattan, Kreeri and Kamalkote, adding therein that SAFEM (FOP) A & NDPSA, New Delhi confirmed attachment of property (Illegal acquired property by drug smugglers) orders of Baramulla Police at Pattan and Kreeri in which house and vehicle was attached.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
