Transport Commr kick starts “Meri Mitti Mera Desh” program- Asks stakeholders to join campaign

Jammu: Transport Commissioner J&K, Rahul Sharma on Tuesday kick started the “Meri Mitti Mera Desh” campaign by pasting Stickers on commercial vehicles here at Transport Yard Narwal.
The campaign was launched at an event organized with regard to the J&K Transport Subsidy scheme to provide a subsidy of Rs. 5.0 Lac for replacing vehicles older than 15 to 20 years of age with new commercial passenger vehicles. He exhorted Transport Unions, Drivers and other stakeholders to participate in ongoing campaign of “Meri Mitti Mera Desh” to remember the great sacrifices of martyrs, who laid down their lives for the nation.
Meanwhile, intensifying enforcement activities against the instances of overloading of vehicles and other violations, the teams of Motor Vehicles Department have launched special enforcement drives in the Month of August. 2023.
The Department has decided to continue such drives and warned of strict & punitive action if any violation is committed on roads.
The warnings were issued by the different enforcement Teams of Motor Vehicle department during ongoing enforcement drives conducted at different locations of NH44. The teams are conducting surprise checking on the special directions of RTO Jammu Pankaj Bhagotra under the overall directions of Transport Commissioner J&K Rahul Sharma.
While interacting with drivers, teams emphasized that MVD is determined to bring violations on the roads to zero level and asked them to be disciplined while driving their vehicles on Road. “Any deviation/violation on your part will attract strict penalty as per MVA and Rules made there under, which may even lead to cancellation/suspension of the RCs/RPs of their vehicles and DLs of the drivers committing the offences” they were told.
As per the Regional Transport Office Jammu during the current month, the department checked as many as 350 vehicles, out of which 95 vehicles were challaned/compounded for various violations under MV Act and Rules framed there under. An amount of Rs 2.35 Lac has been realized from violators on spot against the disposed challans, while as an amount of Rs. 8.35 Lac is expected from remaining challans.
Moreover 5 Driving Licenses, 3 Route Permits and 2 Registration Certificates were also recommended for suspension by the enforcement wing for involvement in violations of serious nature.
The enforcement drives were conducted in Sidhra, Purmandal Morh, Kunjwani Chowk, Akhnoor Road etc. The teams comprised of Rehana Tabassam, ARTO (HQr.),Esha Chib, ARTO(BOI-G), Kuldeep Singh, ARTO(BOI-P), Neeraj Sharma, ARTO(F-S), Vikas Srivats(MVI), Surinder Kumar(MVI), Jasbir Singh(MVI), Amanish Sharma(Sub. MVI) & Taranjot Singh (MVTA). Strict enforcement will continue during the coming days also.
