Rajouri: The Rajouri Forest Division has taken a significant step towards promoting environmental conservation and community engagement with a successful Monsoon Plantation and Distribution Drive held on Tuesday.
The event, organized under the banner of “Har Gaon Haryali,” aimed to enhance green cover and raise awareness about the importance of sustainable living practices among the residents of Kanthol, Tatapani, and Broh villages in Kalakote area, Rajouri district.
The plantation and distribution drive witnessed the active participation of esteemed panchayat members, enthusiastic school children, and dedicated representatives from the local community. Under the guidance of the Rajouri Forest Division, a total of 400 saplings were planted during the program, contributing to the region’s overall green cover. The selection of plant species focused on native varieties that are well-suited to the local climate and ecosystem, ensuring their long-term survival and ecological benefits.
In addition to the plantation, 1200 saplings were distributed among the public and school children, emphasizing the need for individual responsibility in nurturing and safeguarding the environment. By involving the younger generation, the initiative aimed to instill a sense of environmental consciousness and foster a deep-rooted connection with nature from an early age.
The event unfolded with great enthusiasm as the participants gathered at the designated planting sites. Panchayat members and forest officials addressed the gathering, highlighting the significance of preserving forests, conserving biodiversity, and mitigating climate change. They emphasized the role of trees in purifying the air, preventing soil erosion, providing habitat to wildlife, and enhancing the overall well-being of communities.
Notably, the involvement of local school children added a vibrant and optimistic spirit to the occasion. Alongside planting saplings, the children actively participated in interactive sessions and workshops, where they learned about the importance of sustainable practices such as water conservation, waste management, and energy efficiency.
The Rajouri Forest Division expressed their gratitude to all the participants, especially the panchayat members, school children, and the local community for their unwavering support and enthusiasm. They acknowledged the collective effort put forth towards realizing the vision of “Har Gaon Haryali” and affirmed their commitment to organizing more such initiatives in the future.
This Monsoon Plantation and Distribution Drive marks a significant milestone in the journey towards a greener and more sustainable future for Rajouri district. The Rajouri Forest Division encourages all citizens to actively participate in nurturing the planted saplings, ensuring their healthy growth, and promoting a harmonious coexistence with nature.
