Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested a drug peddler along with psychotropic substance in Sopore.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Sopore at a checkpoint established at Dooru Crossing intercepted a suspicious person identified as Umer Hussain War @Beta S/o Muhammad Hussain War R/o Edipora Bom and 11 bottles of Codeine were recovered from his possession after thorough search following which the said accused was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that a case vide FIR No. 203/2023was registed under relevant sections of law at Police Station Sopore and further investigation too was initiated into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
