Says “Those who eroded Art.370 during their dispensations ,are now shedding crocodile tears for its restoration”
Srinagar: Hoping that the Apex Court will deliver justice to the people of Jammu and Kashmir in its verdict on petitions against abrogation of the Article 370, Chairman Peoples Democratic Front and Former Minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen on Monday said the article served as an aspirational bridge for mutual trust and faith between people of the country and Jammu and Kashmir.
According to a statement issued from party headquarters here, “Respecting socio-political aspirations of the people was paramount for strengthening the bonds of mutual trust and faith between Center and the people of Jammu and Kashmir , Hakeem said while speaking at a meeting of PDF workers and office bearers here on Monday . He said people of Jammu and Kashmir were yearning for protection of their identity and honour within the constitutional gaurantees assured to them in the Instrument of accession . He said the urge of the people about restoration of the Art.370 should not be construed as a separatist tendency but a sincere plea to allow them live peacefully in the national mainstream with dignity and honour.
PDF Chairman out rightly held some political parties responsible for creating doubts and misunderstanding in the Center about loyalty and patriotism of the people of Jammu and Kashmir , for satiating their vested political interests. “ Actually , these are parties which during their long dispensations eroded sanctity of Art.370 and made it hollow, time and again , to appease their bosses at the Center and where now shedding crocodile tears about its restoration, “PDF Chief maintained . Hakeem expressed optimism that the Supreme court would deliver justice to the people of Jammu and Kashmir in its verdict on petitions against abrogation of Art.370 adding that restoration of this constitutional gaurantee was imperative to strengthen socio-political bonds between Center and the people. He said people of Jammu and Kashmir have by conviction acceded to secular India on the basis of some constitutional assurances adding that the way Art.370 was unilaterally abrogated, has severely hurt socio-political aspirations and sentiments of the people . He said people of Jammu and Kashmir were no less patriots than other countrymen adding that their urge about restoration of the Art.370 should not be construed as a separatist tendency but a sincere plea to allow them live peacefully among the national mainstream with dignity and honour. He said people have now understood machinations of these political parties , who used to raise hollow slogans to befool common people for meeting their political interests.
“Gone are the days when people were befooled by raising emotional slogans d then , PDF Chairman observed adding that people have now fully understood the chemistry of JK politics and would not no more allow any element to exploit them . He said those following the old ways of politics will eventually fall under their own weight . Hakeem asked the workers to expand their public outreach at gross roots level to win faith and goodwill of the common people adding that public representatives would now be elected on the basis of their performance and goodwill not on emotional slogans and hollow promises.
