Pune: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Sunday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for making changes in cooperative sector, saying farmers now have the right on the profit of the cooperatives.
Speaking after the launch of a digital portal of the Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies (CRCS) which will be used for multi-state cooperatives here, he said that the problems of sugar factories remained unresolved for many years, but the BJP government at the Centre solved it in a short time.
Drawing comparison with the corporate sector, he said that there are same facilities and arrangements in cooperation field as in the corporate sector.
He said that the work of building big on the basis of small investments has been done through cooperatives and the cooperative sector has fulfilled the dream of progress of the poor.
Referring to Maharashtra as the ‘capital of the country’s cooperative sector’, the Minister said that Maharashtra, which has the largest number of multi-state cooperatives in the country, will benefit the most from the digital portal.
He further said that the spirit of cooperation reached the country only from Maharashtra and lauded contribution of Padmashri Vitthalrao Vikhe-Patil, Dhananjay Gadgil, Vaikunthbhai Mehta and many others for taking the cooperative sector forward.
He further said that there would not be a single cooperative sugar factory in Maharashtra which will not turn to ethanol production.
Expressing satisfaction about the progress made by the cooperative sector in the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Shah said that is the reason why he launched the digital portal of the Central Registrar’s Office from Pune.
