Nowshera Forest Division establishes “Phal Vatika” in collaboration with 130 BN BSF Sunderbani under Green J&K Drive

Nowshera: Sunderbani Forest Range of Nowshera Forest Division conducted a mega plantation drive inside campus of 130 BN BSF Sunderbani. S.S. Mand DIG SHQ SBN, Satyendra Maurya, Divisional Forest Officer, Dr. Ram Kumar Commandant of 130 BN BSF Sunderbani, along with officers of all ranks and Jawans planted fruit and ornamental plants to establish new fruit garden “Sahid Haralal Phal Vatika”.
Sudesh Kumar Sharma Range Officer Sunderbani, Rajinder Dev Sharma Block Officer Dharamsal, Rangeel Singh Block Forest Officer Sunderbani, Ravi Kant from Range office played an active role in the success of plantation drive.
DFO Nowshera appraised the officers and jawans of 130BN BSF Sunderbani about the objectives of “Green J&K drive” & “Har Gaon Hariyali” campaigns of Jammu Kashmir Forest Department aimed at creating people’s movement at a massive scale with involvement of all stakeholders particularly villages panchayats, women, students, Urban local bodies, NGOs and civil societies.
He appreciated the role of institutional plantation in enhancing the green cover outside the forest area. He visited the old plantations raised inside the BSF campus which were well established and maintained He appealed to people to plants tree outside forest along with plantation on forest land to combat the problem of global warming and to achieve the goal of sustainable development.
S.S. Mand DIG SHQ SBN motivated all the participants for tree plantation and protection by telling various benefits of trees in our lives, need of nature etc. He urged officers and Jawans to pledge for planting at least five trees at a suitable place around their house and make their valuable contribution in nature conservation and also make their family members aware in this context.
The entire program was conducted under the overall guidance of Vivek Verma, CF West Circle.
