Amar Singh College organizes Awareness Prog on Library Services for Users

Latest issue of “Lala Rukh” released

Srinagar: The Central Library, Amar Singh College under the Aegis of Library Committee organized an awareness programme on “Library Services for Users”, here.
The programme was organized with a view to educate the students and faculty about the services being offered by the central library along with new and augmented facilities.
Prof. (Dr) Sheikh Ajaz Bashir, Nodal Principal Kashmir Division Colleges and Principal Amar Singh College, presided over the programme.
In his presidential address, the principal emphasized that knowledge is power and libraries are the repository of that power. He congratulated the library committee and appreciated their efforts in upgrading the library facility. Prof. Ajaz also apprised students and faculty that the library shall be further developed on the latest lines for providing a better ambience and state-of-the-art facility to students.
Chief Librarian, Huma Shafiq through her enlightening presentation acquainted students with the library services like Book Bank, NLIST, Browsing Centre, and reprographic section facilities, which are available for students throughout the session.
She also emphasized that student suggestions and recommendations regarding the procurement of books and allied facilities are always welcome and to facilitate this purpose they have installed a suggestion box in the library. She also informed students that the library is in the process of installing OPAC Kiosks, RFID-enabled entry and E-Resource facility.
Earlier, Convener Library Committee, Dr. Nahida Tun Nisa, extended a warm welcome to the Principal, faculty members and students. She thanked the principal for extending full support and going out of way to augment facilities in the library.
At this occasion, the latest issue of annual college magazine “Lala Rukh” was released by Prof. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir, in presence of Convener, Publication Committee, Prof. Shahnawaz Muntazir and other members of the committee on the dice.
Prof. Sheikh Ajaz applauded the publication committee for bringing forth the issue and assured his all support for further developments.
The event witnessed encouraging student footfall, who raised their queries and were satisfied with the responses by the experts.
