Kishtwar: The second flesh of Dingri (Mushroom) in Kishtwar district is anticipated to attract a high turnout this year, as Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Dr. DevanshYadav recently inspected the exhibits presented by the Agriculture Department.
The exhibits showcased eloquent production and exceptional quality of Dingri cultivated in the region.
During the inspection, Chief Agriculture Officer KishtwarAmjadHussain Malik provided insights into the ongoing season’s agricultural initiatives. Around 3900 Spawn blocks were distributed among Self Help Groups & 600 growers across 14 agriculture zones, with the expectation of a total harvest of approximately 78 Quantils.
This significant agricultural effort is projected to generate an impressive income of Rs. 15 lakhs across the district.
The distribution of these blocks was carried out by the Agriculture Department, free of cost, under the state Capex Budget 2022-23. The favorable climatic conditions, based on past experiences, are expected to contribute to the growth and quality of Dingri, fulfilling the aspirations of farmers by offering a selling price of Rs. 200 per Kg.
The cultivation of Dingri in the district has consistently shown promising results, leading to increased production and generating employment and income for farmers.
Speaking at the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar encouraged the department to continue providing best cultivation practices and establish market linkages, ensuring that farmers’ income remains uncompromised.
Highlighting the potential of Dingri cultivation, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar emphasized the significance of value addition and proper packaging along with marketing strategies, which can lead to manifold profits for farmers even after the harvest.
With the growing interest and success in Dingri cultivation, the Agriculture Department remains committed to supporting the farmers with modern techniques, market access, and adequate resources to ensure sustained prosperity in the agriculture sector in Kishtwar district.
