BCCI relaxes rules for players affected by Covid, announces schedule for Bone Test

Srinagar: In view of the Covid Pandemic, U-16 tournaments were not organised in 2020-21 & 2021-22 by the BCCI. It has now clarified its position regarding participation of boys in U-19 Tournaments, stated Brig. Anil Gupta, Member Administration, JKCA, in a press release issued by Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA).
In a statement issued here on Friday JKCA said “For Season 2020-21, boys who were eligible as per their chronological age in 2020-21 season but could not play owing to cancellation of Vijay Merchant U(16) tournament due to covid pandemic, will be eligible to participate in U(19) tournaments subject to them having valid birth certificate.”
“In cases, where their birth is registered within 2 years of their birth, they will be eligible to play for 4 seasons maximum and in cases where their birth is registered after 2 years of their birth, they will be eligible to play for 2 seasons maximum,” it reads.
Similarly, For Season 2021-22 Season, boys who passed the AVP test in 2021-22 season but could not play owing to cancellation of Vijay Merchant U(16) tournament due to covid pandemic, will be eligible to participate in U(19) tournaments subject to them having valid birth certificate.
“In cases, where their birth is registered within 2 years of their birth, they will be eligible to play for 4 seasons maximum and in cases where their birth is registered after 2 years of their birth, they will be eligible to play for 2 seasons maximum.”
The boys who did not pass the AVP test in the 2021-22 season will be eligible to play U (19) tournaments subject to them having a valid birth certificate. In cases, where their birth is registered within 2 years of their birth, they will be eligible to play for 2 seasons maximum and in cases where
their birth is registered after 2 years of their birth, they will be eligible to play for 1 season maximum.
Brig. Gupta further informed that under Age Verification Program of the BCCI, a skeletal maturity test in the form of bone test of U-16 Boys & U-15 Girls players will be conducted for the season 2023-24. For JKCA Players, it will be organized at Srinagar and Jammu on 07th & 08th August, 2023 respectively.
The names of the affected players have already been uploaded on the Association’s website www.jkca.tv. All the boys and girls whose names have been uploaded are required to submit their Original DOB
and school marksheets for the previous 03 years at the Association’s office at Jammu and Srinagar.
They are also required to carry updated Aadhar Card as a Photo ID Proof. It has been clarified by the BCCI that only UIDAI issued PVC Aadhar Card with proper QR code will be accepted as photo id. This
can be ordered from UIDAI website for the payment of Rs. 50 only. The players are required to update the photograph on Aadhar Card before ordering for this PVC Aadhar Card, as advised by the BCCI.
The cut off age for U-16 boys will be “born on or after 01st September, 2007 but on or before 31st August, 2009” and for U-15 girls will be “ born on or after 01st September, 2008 but on or after 31st August, 2010.”
All players are advised to report at the intimated venues well in time, stated Brig. Gupta.
