Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has booked 4 notorious drug smugglers under PIT-NDPS Act in Baramulla district after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.
In a statement issued from zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the 4 accused drug smugglers identified as Jaleel Ahmad Shah S/o Nazir Ahmad R/o Tawheed Colony Kanispora Baramulla, Abdul Majeed Sofi S/o Abdul Ahad R/o Fatehgarh Sheeri, Mohammad Amin Banday S/o Inayat-ullah R/o Lari Boniyar & Mansoor Ahmad Wani @Soriya S/o Gh Mohammad Wani R/o Kharpora Kunzar have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority. Besides, the booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jail Jammu.
Police in its statement said that many a cases were registered against the said drug smugglers who were also found involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Kanispora, Fatehgarh, Lari Boniyar, Kharpora Kunzer & other areas of District Baramulla. Police said that despite warning and their involvement in many FIRs, they did not mend their activities and were found again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth upon which it had taken cognizance of the incident and swung into action.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement police said that its consistent actions against the criminals will remain continue in the days to come also and reassured people that it has been making every efforts to eradicate social evils from the society and keep it free from drug abuse.
