Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that two hybrid militants of LeT militant outfit along with arms and ammunition have been arrested in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that on specific inputs about the movement of militants in Baramulla Town, a joint team of Police, Army (46RR) and CRPF (53Bn) was established a MVCP at Azadgunj Old Town, Baramulla which intercepted two persons who tried to flee from the spot but wereapprehended tactfully.
Stating that the said accused identified as Faisal Majeed Ganie S/o Abdul Majeed R/o Bungalow Bagh Baramulla and Nourul Kamran Ganie S/o Mohammad Akbar Ganie R/o Bagh-e-Islam Old Town Baramulla were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, Police in it’s statement further said that the incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including 1 Pistol, 1 Pistol Magazine, 4 live Pistol rounds and 1 Grenade were also recovered from the possession of the said accused.
Police in its statement furthermore said that during preliminary investigation both the accused were found hybrid militants and have links with LeT militant outfit as they were also found involved in collecting arms and ammunition for carrying out militant activities in Baramulla Town in view of forthcoming Independence Day, adding therein that a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Baramulla and further investigation are underway.
