NIT Srinagar organises Memorial Lecture on Prof. P N Khosa

Srinagar: The PG Department of Physics, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar organized a Memorial Lecture on former faculty member Prof. P N Khosa, who left for heavenly abode on Friday in New Delhi.
According to a statement issued from Public Relations Office NIT, Srinagar during a condolence meeting organized at the department, faculty, staff, and students gathered to honor and remember Prof. Khosa’s exceptional dedication to fostering academic excellence and his profound impact on the NIT Srinagar community.
Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. (Dr.) Sudhakar Yedla, Ex-Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. AM Wani, Dean Faculty Welfare, Prof (Dr.) G. A. Harmain, Head Physics Dr. MA Shah, Head, Electronics and Communication Prof Gausia Qzai, Prof S Rubab, Prof M Ikram and other faculty members from the department, consoled the demise of Prof. P N Khosa and hailed his vast contribution.
On the occasion, Director NIT Srinagar Yedla expressed deep admiration and respect for Prof. P N Khosa’s accomplishments and unwavering commitment to nurturing young minds.
“Let us all pray on behalf of entire community of NIT Srinagar. May his soul rest in eternal peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, and we stand in solidarity during at this difficult time,” he said.
As a mark of respect and gratitude, the gathering observed a solemn two-minute silence in honor of Prof. P N Khosa’s remarkable contributions to the academic community and to pay homage to his exemplary service to the institute.
Earlier, Ex-Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. AM Wani delivered a special ‘Prof. Khosa Memorial Lecture’ and hailed his significant contribution both in research and in academics. Recognizing the profound impact Prof. Khosa has had on the lives of countless students and faculty members, Prof. Wani recounted numerous instances of his mentorship and guidance, which have inspired many to excel in their academic and professional pursuits.
“My association with Prof. Khosa started at 1960. I still remember his lectures and have also kept his class notes. He was a visionary teacher and no one can replace his vast contribution to Physics,” he said.
Prof. G A Harman said Prof. Khosa has been an inspiring leader who has brought positive transformations to REC Srinagar (Now NIT Srinagar). His dedication to advancing education and fostering a culture of excellence has left an indelible mark on all of us,” he added.
Prof Khosa was a man of action, a prominent educationist, and a great social thinker and policy maker. He tried his best and had planned a lot to develop this department during his short period of time.
Dr. M A Shah said Prof P N Khosa has been Head, the Department of Physics, and then REC Srinagar for around a decade, and his contributions to the department and for the institution are priceless and can be seen vividly.
“Prof. Khosa has made his followers and successors proud by his scholarly and scientific contribution. He was one of the few outstanding personalities who played an important role in the establishment of the department,” he said.
“In recognition of his meritorious and remarkable services to science and to the Society, Dr. shah has decided to host the lecture series entitled, “Prof Khosa Memorial Lecture” every year on 31st of July,” he said.
Dr. Shah said this lecture will highlight the prominent role of an eminent scholar in Physics and allied fields. The lecture shall be open to the students of other institutions in and around Srinagar city.
The condolence meeting was attended by a number of students, scholars and a group of Interns from Islamia college Srinagar.
