Srinagar: An off-duty soldier who has gone missing from Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district remained untraced, official sources said.
The 25-year-old Army man identified as Javed Ahmad, resident of Asthal Kulgam, was posted in Ladakh had come home on leave, went missing around 8 pm Saturday, family said. The family fears that he may have been kidnapped.
His abandoned vehicle was discovered by the villagers in a nearby area.
No militant organization has owned the responsibility so far. There was also no official word neither from police nor Army about the missing soldier.
Earlier, a video surfaced on social media in which his parents are appealing to his alleged abductors for his release.
“If our son has done anything wrong please forgive him”, the parents said in the video.
“Javid come home, please release him on mercy”, the mother in desperate conditions said in the video.
The villagers who had gathered near the house were also demanding the release of Javed.
A massive hunt has been launched by security forces to trace the missing soldier, however, there was no trace of the missing army men till late in the evening.
