Srinagar: Police on Friday said that in a joint operation with army a grenade throwing module was busted by it as four militant associates/ conspirators were arrested by it in Kulgam and with this Yaripora grenade attack case in which several civilians were injured was solved. Police in it’s statement also said that incriminating materials, arms & ammunition were also recovered from the possession of the said militant associates.
In a statement issued from Zonal police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that on May 24 last year a grenade was hurled on a police party at Main Chowk Yaripora, but the grenade missed the intended target and exploded in the crowd nearby, in which 13 persons were injured and a case vide FIR No. 24/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered Police Station Yaripora and investigation into the case was also initiated.
Police in it’s above referred statement further said that during the course of investigation, Kulgam Police alongwith Army (1RR), arrested four militant associates/conspirators for their involvement in the said militancy related crime case and were identified as Nasir Nabi Dar S/o Ghulam Nabi Dar, Mohd Abass Dar S/o Abdul Ghani Dar, both residents of Gundchahal, Frisal, Aaqib Majid Ganie S/o Abdul Majid Ganie R/o Badroo, Yaripora and Zahid Ali Bhat S/o Ali Mohd Bhat R/o Kokergund, Yaripora.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police said that the incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including a pistol, 2 pistol magazines, 14 pistol rounds and a hand grenade were recovered from the possession of the said militant associates and investigation of the case is underway.
