Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Shopian district and also recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued from zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party led by DySP Hqrs Shopian and assisted by SHO Police Statopm Heerpora at a checkpoint established at Ramnagri Shopian intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK011-3871 with two persons on board and during search recovered 194 grams of charas like contraband substance from the said vehicle, besides which the two accused persons identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Ganie S/o Ab Gaffar Ganie R/o Memander Shopian Bilal Ahmad Lohar S/o Gh Mohd Lohar R/o Memendar Shopian were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Police in it’s statement further said that the vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized.
Stating that the police registered a case under relevant sections of law at Police Station Heerpora and initiated further investigation into the case,
Police in the concluding para of it’s above referred statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
