Doda hosts 2-day Lal Draman Festival from Aug 5, DC reviews progress on arrangements for mega event

Doda : The 2-day Lal Draman festival (Youth Conclave) is scheduled to start from August 5 in the sprawling Lal Dramen meadows. In the run up to hosting the much anticipated Lal Dramen festival, Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Mahajan, along with SSP Abdul Qayoom on Thursday, chaired a meeting to review the progress on arrangements being made for the mega event.
The meeting was attended ADC, Dr R.K Bharti; Joint Director Tourism, Sunaina Mehta (Virtually); SE PWD, RP Singh; ACD, Phulail Singh; ACP, Ashfaq Khanji; GM DIC, Idrees Lone; DFO, DSWO, CEO, DIO, DPO, AD Tourism Batote (Virtually), DYSSO, Ex Ens of PHE, PDD and PWD, Cultural Officer and representative of GDC Doda.
The DC reviewed the progress on the inventory of activities decided earlier.
It was informed that the road leading to Lal Draman shall be traffic worthy by 2nd of August. A Kabaddi Championship, besides other games and sports would be held during the festival. Only Metadoors and light motor vehicles shall be allowed to the Festival Site.
The concerned officers assured to make available an adequate number of tents, make provision of water and electricity supply, deployment of personnel for security, installation of power generators, lights, sound system and other necessary amenities by August 2.
To maintain cleanliness and hygiene, the Deputy Commissioner directed the officials to deploy an adequate number of sanitation staff two days prior to the event. Further, he urged the Power Development Department (PDD) and the Municipal Committee Doda to take measures for proper lighting at the venue and the approach paths leading to it, to ensure a hassle-free experience for the visitors.
The adventure sports and activities to be organized during the festival, including marathons, zip-lining, kabaddi, and cultural programs were discussed and the departments involved assured to make all the arrangements well in advance.
To promote awareness and community participation, the Assistant Commissioner of Panchayat was asked to organize a painting competition, focusing on cleanliness and maintaining a pristine environment.
The Chief Medical Officer was asked to deploy a medical care team during the festival, including the deployment of specialist doctors of orthopaedics, gynecology and physician. Moreover, the Principal GDC Doda and CEO informed that the students above 8th class shall participate in the Idea Exchange programme and other sports and cultural activities in the festival. The Deputy Commissioner also encouraged both government and private schools to actively participate in the festival to create a vibrant atmosphere.
With these comprehensive arrangements and a dedicated team of officials, the Youth Conclave/Lal Dramen festival in Doda promises to be an unforgettable event, showcasing the cultural vibrancy and natural beauty of the region.
