3-Day Capacity Building on Drug Demand Reduction campaign concludes in Kishtwar

DC emphasises on reinforcement of control measures

Kishtwar : The Social Welfare Department, Kishtwar, successfully concluded the 3-day capacity building training cum awareness programme on Drug Demand Reduction under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
After the Successful awareness programmes at GDC Chatroo and Gulabgarh Paddar, the last witnessed a mega awareness programme here in the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex, with Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Devansh Yadav as the chief guest.
The training programme, held under the close supervision of District Social Welfare Officer, Zubair Ahmed Lone, witnessed the participation of several government functionaries and stakeholders in the fight against drug abuse.
Present at the event were DySP Hqrs, Dr. Ishan Gupta; CMO, Dr. M. Y. Mir; Nodal Officer Addiction Treatment Facility, Dr. Arif; Counsellors from the Education Department, Officers and officials of One Stop Centre & District Hub for Empowerment of Women, PRI Members, Anganwari Workers, Asha Workers, Teachers, Students,NSS Cadets of GDC Kishtwar, Representatives from Different departments, and NGO representatives.
The District Social Welfare Officer Kishtwar commenced the program by delivering the welcome address, briefing the participants about the aims and objectives of organising such a crucial training program.
The primary objective of the Capacity Building Programme was to raise awareness among the participants about the hazardous effects of substance use and to explore effective strategies for eradicating this menace from society.
In his address, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, highlighted the pivotal role of girl students as ambassadors in carrying forward the message of Nasha Mukht Bharat and combating drug abuse in the society.
Recognizing the different roles girls and women play as mothers, sisters, and as life partner, he emphasized their importance in curbing the drug menace and encouraged them to actively participate in the initiative.
Dr. Devansh Yadav urged the Social Welfare Department, other stakeholders, and enforcement agencies to collaborate in the fight against drug abuse. There is an imminent need to reinforce a united front to address this pressing issue, he added.
Several resource persons including Dr Arif, Counselors from the Education Department, Sandeep Kumar and Ajay Kumar, enlightened the participants about the identification, treatment, aftercare, rehabilitation, and social integration of individuals dependent on substances. The sessions covered crucial topics such as symptoms, early signs, effects of drugs, precautionary measures, and available treatment facilities for drug users.
The programme concluded with the commitment to steer the youth and others away from drugs and to work collectively towards building a drug-free society.
The successful culmination of the 3-day capacity building training programme marks a significant step forward in the district’s efforts to combat drug abuse and create a healthier and drug-free environment for its residents.
