DC Pulwama visits Social Welfare & its allied offices in Distt

Pulwama : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom on Wednesday conducted inspection of District Social Welfare office, OSC, DHEW, CWC and CCI where he reviewed functioning and the progress of ongoing services being provided by the department to needy, destitute and poor people of the district.
DC called upon the Officers and other functionaries of the Social Welfare department to work in a holistic and pro-active approach with utmost coordination among all wings of the department to ensure efficient and effective implementation of all Social Security and beneficiary-oriented schemes in the district.
He also asked the Officers for laying a special focus on cent per cent coverage under all Social Welfare schemes. One official was immediately transferred to another office for sub-optimal performance and over stay.
At OSC- One Stop Centre Pulwama, officials were told to make collective efforts for providing accessible and helpful services to people.
Terming District Hub for Women Empowerment Pulwama, a protection home, the DC said that the centre was launched to address cases of domestic violence and other family disputes and concerted efforts are required to address and prevent conflicts within families and curb violence against women.
Moreover, the DC exhorted the officers to launch massive awareness drives across the district so that the women can understand their rights.
On the occasion, the DC stressed on providing round the clock help/assistance to the women in distress and receiving periodical feedback from the affected/distressed women.
He instructed for maintaining a proper database of each case with the interventions and impact of interventions.
Later, the DC visited Bal Ashram Patalbagh Pulwama to review the facilities being provided by government viz Boarding, Lodging and compulsory, quality, meaningful education to destitute/ Orphan.
While interacting with the inmates of the Bal Ashram, the DC took stock of the facilities being provided to them. He also inquired about the needs and their requirements to ease their lives in the Ashram. He directed the staff of the Ashram to ensure proper cleanliness and better facilities to the inmates.
