Block Diwas held at Wangam of Block Kapran, Shopian

DDC listens to people's grievances, assures prompt redressal

Shopian: In order to assess the local issues and listen to the grievances of the people for their speedy disposal, Block Diwas was on Wednesday held at Village Wangam of Block Kaprin in Shopian.
The outreach programme was presided over by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, Faz Lul Haseeb.
Several public issues including construction of drainage system along roads, removal of encroachments on road sides, better medical facilities, macadamization of link roads, providing of potable drinking water facility, reconstruction of orchard roads, upgradation of Middle School, fencing and upgradation of playground, reconstruction of damaged bridge at Wangam, construction of School building, irrigation facilities, flood protection bund, etc were projected by the people of various areas.
The DDC gave a patient hearing to the grievances raised and assured quality disposal of genuine issues in a time-bound manner while directing the concerned officers to resolve the same expeditiously to facilitate the demands of the people.
He enquired about the requirements of the youth of the area who projected demands of the upgradation of the local playfield and was apprised by the concerned RDD officials that works of about 8 lakhs are slated for completion this year for upgradation of playfield.
The DDC further directed officers of R&B, RDD, PMGSY and others to take works demanded by the people which are feasible and of routine nature. Other issues of public importance were noted for further follow up with authorities.
He emphasised upon the RDD about the need to manage the household waste and ensure sanitation in panchayats across the block by putting required measures for proper waste segregation and waste disposal.
On the occasion, officers and officials of line departments responded to the queries and grievances of the people.
CEO, Mushtaq Ahmad; DIO, Showkat Hussain Ganie; officers and officials of revenue, other departments, PRIs, were present on the occasion.
