Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has freezed Bank savings and seized a vehicle of a notorious drug peddler in Bandipora.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that it has frozen Bank savings of Rs 3,97,604 and also seized one Auto load carrier bearing registration No. JK15B-4455, valued at about Rs 3,18,000, belonging to a notorious drug peddler namely Irshad Ahmad Khan S/o Abdul Samad Khan R/o Asham Hajin under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Police in its statement also said that during preliminary investigation, it has come to fore that all these assets were illegally acquired through the sale of narcotic drugs.
Police in its statement further said that by targeting and freezing the illegal assets of drug peddlers involved in the organized illegal narco trade, it has brought a severe blow to their criminal activities and deprived these criminals to proceed further in drug trafficking trade in the valley.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police said that the people of the area appreciated the action taken by it in safeguarding them from the devastating effects of drug abuse and trafficking.
