6 drug peddlers arrested, contraband substances including 320 Kgs poppy straw also seized: Police

Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested six drug peddlers in Anantnag and Baramulla districts and also recovered huge quantity of contraband substances including 320 kilograms of poppy straw from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Anantnag district a police party of Police Station Dooru intercepted a vehicle (Truck) bearing registration number JK18A-5471 with two persons on board at a special checkpoint established at Mandipora crossing and during checking recovered 320Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance from the said vehicle, besides which the two accused persons identified as Balvinder Kumar S/o Santok Ram R/o Pakadeem Jalender Punjab and Boshan Das S/o Sangra Ram R/o Ward No 2 Mohalla Chodyan Jalender Punjab were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Police in it’s statemt also said thatthe vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Stating that in a similar action a police party at a checking established at Mehmood Abad, Dooru crossing intercepted two persons riding a motorcycle bearing registration number JK03K-4240 and during search recovered 4 grams of Heroin like substance from the possession of the said accused identified as Malik Anzar S/o Gh Nabi Malik R/o Nathipora Dooru and Nakeeb Yousuf Thakroo S/o Mohd Yousuf R/o Gori Bijbehara, Police in it’s statement further said that the above named accused were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody andthe motorcycle used in the commission of crime was been seized.
Police in it’s statement furthermore said that a police party of Police Station Tangmarg under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg Imtiyaz Ahmad during naka checking at a checkpoint established at Drang Crossing Tangmarg intercepted two suspicious persons who tried to flee but were apprehended tactfully and during search, 70 grams of Charas like substance were recovered from their possession. Stating that the said accused persons were identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Khan S/o Ab Rashid Khan R/o Harashnag & Lateef Ahmad Khan S/o Gh Ahmad Khan R/o Khamindarpora and subsequently arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, Police in it’s statement also said a case under relevant sections of law was registered further investigation was initiated into the case.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood but warned that peeople found indulging in drug peddling will strictly be dealt as per law.
