4 drug peddlers arrested, contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers in Baramulla and Budgam and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Baramulla, a police party led by SHO Police Station Sheeri under the supervision of Dy SP Hqrs Altaf Ahmad at a checkpoint established at Gantmulla Balla near Iqbal Resorts intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully and later during searches 26 grams of Charas like substance and 56 Spasmo Proxyvon capsules were recovered from the possession of the accused identified as Manzoor Ahmad Yatoo S/o Mohd Sultan Yatoo R/o Heewan who was immediately arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Police in its above referred statement further said that in a similar a police party from Police Statuon Chandoosa under the supervision of SDPO Kreeri Khalid Ashraf arrested one drug smuggler at a checkpoint established near Petrol pump at Kachwa Chandoosa alongwith 145 grams of Charas like substance who was later identified as Farooq Ahmad Rather S/o Gh Nabi Rather R/o Wagoora and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that in Budgam district also, a police party of Police Station Khansahab at a checkpoint established at Drigam intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK01F-6877 with two persons on board and during search of the said vehicle recovered, 490 grams of Charas like substance from the possession of the the accused were identified as Shabir Ahmad Choupan @Shabir Dembali S/o Gh Ahmad Choupan R/o Dembal Chadoora and Irshad Ahmad Rather S/o Mohd Ayoub Rather R/o Dadompora Chadoora , Police in it’s statement said that the above named accused were also arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody besides which the vehicle used in the commission of crime was seized and a case under relevant sections of law and initiated further investigation is underway.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood butwarned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law
