Arrangements for I’-Day, 2023 celebrations reviewed at Pulwama

Pulwama: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom on Saturday convened a meeting of concerned officers to review the arrangements being put in place by different departments for smooth celebration of Independence Day, 2023 in the district.
At the outset, the DC highlighted the importance of national event and sensitized concerned officers of line departments about their role and responsibility and directed them to make fool-proof arrangements in advance for the smooth conduct of celebrations across the district with fervour and enthusiasm.
He emphasized upon the inclusion of various cultural activities representing the diversity of our great nation and urged the involvement of students, youth, artists and performers in the National event.
The review also encompassed an assessment of the infrastructure and facilities for the convenience of the attendees, including seating arrangements, traffic management, and medical aid centres and also the arrangements to be put in place right from the rehearsals to the main event.
The meeting was informed that the main function will be held at DPL Pulwama, while local administration will celebrate the national event at Sub-Division, Block and Tehsil levels.
The DC directed the district heads of different departments to ensure their presence as well as the subordinate officers and officials in the Independence Day function both at the district headquarter as well in the divisional level functions.
Meanwhile, the arrangements for flag Hoisting, March past, Cultural items, seating arrangements, stage setting, Venue preparation and refreshment for the I-Day celebration were discussed in the meeting.
Directions were given to concerned officers to make foolproof security arrangements and adequate provision of drinking water, power supply, medicare facility, sanitation, transport, traffic regulation, and illumination of major government buildings in tricolour theme besides deployment of fire tenders, seating arrangement, besides distribution of invitations etc.
He also impressed upon the concerned to make arrangements for students and artists to facilitate their participation in the Independence Day celebration besides their boarding and lodging.
The DC instructed the concerned officers to ensure maximum participation of school Children, NCC & NSS cadres, police, band party and other teams for the parade on the auspicious occasion of Independence Day.
Chief Education Officer and DYSSO along with other concerned officers were directed to prepare a variety of cultural programmes with special focus on patriotism and local culture.
The DC emphasised the importance of National Flag hoisting and also stressed upon the adherence to National flag code to ensure Honour and Dignity of National flag. All officers were impressed upon to acquaint themselves well with the code and procedures.
Among others the meeting was attended by SSP Pulwama, ADDC Pulwama, ADC Pulwama/Awantipora/ Tral, Asst. Commissioner Revenue, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Education Officer, DYSSO Pulwama, and Officers from different Units of Army and CRPF.
