Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said that it has seized illicit timber in village Mankal Handwara and also arrested an accused person involved in the commission of crime.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarter Srinagar Police said that Police Station Qalamabad alongwith forest officials during a joint venture recovered 25 logs of illicit timber from the possession of one person identified as Ghulam Mohd Mir S/o Mohd Jamal R/o Mankal who was immediately arrested and shifted to police Station where he remains in custody.
Stating that the police has accordingly registered a case vide FIR No.44/2023 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Qalamabad and initiated further investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement said that the drive against timber smugglers shall continue for protection of green gold. Police on this occasion assured people not to spare anyone found involved in smuggling of green gold and resolved to act tough against the persons found indulging in anti-social activities, as per law
