Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it has arrested father and son for illegally acquiring illicit forest timber in Baramulla and also recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on specific inputs regarding timber smuggling in Baramulla, a police party led by SHO Police Station Uri under the supervision of SDPO Uri Shokat Ali alongwith officials from Forest Department raided the house of Khan Mohammad S/o Kalu Khan R/o Kundi Barjala Kamalkote, adding therein that during search, 93 CFt of illicit forest timber and 7Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance was recovered from the said house.
Stating that the accused alongwith his son identified as Shawair Ahmad Khan S/o Khan Mohd tried to flee but were apprehended tactfully by the alert police party and subsequently they were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, Police in it’s statement further said that has accordingly registered a case under relevant sections of law at Police Station Uri and initiated further investigations into the case.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police resolved to act tough against the people indulging in anti-social activities and assured people to make all possible efforts to keep society free from crimes.
